Patti wanted Roy to make a clock that looked like it would belong in one of the Superman cartoons from the 1940s. This is what he came up with.
The waterfall edge is a throwback to the art deco style of the 1930s and 1940s, as are the contrasting woods used for the cardinal points. The American art deco style was one of optimism and excitement about the future, and we hope we've captured some of that feeling in this clock.
The clock above has a maple surround. The clock to the right has a cherry surround. Both clocks have a walnut burl veneer face. The hour markers are made of maple. The cardinal points are made of maple and wenge. Both clocks are finished with clear polyurethane.
Dimensions: 16" diameter, 2" thick, 11 3/4" diameter face. The quartz movement requires an A battery (not included).
