Intarsia Door
We use the breezeway in our house as a combination showroom/storeroom, and this is the door that separates it from our kitchen. Since this is our showroom, we felt that the space needed a door that was more than just an ordinary door.
The door is made with a fir frame and a plywood core. The sun and critter design uses a variety of shopcut veneers of woods that we use in many of our other projects. These include cedar, birdseye maple, oak, cherry, zebrawood, and wenge, among others.
As you can see in the closeup, the snake and cat are debating over a flying insect made of Douglas fir burl with woodburned wings.
